FORMER Vice-President Specioza Wandira Kazibwe on Thursday led hundreds of supporters to witness the nomination of deputy Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.
Kadaga, who is also the Woman MP for Kamuli, will face the district councillors for Kamuli town council and Nabwigulu sub-county, Rehema Watongola and Mary Mutesi, both independent candidates.
Watongola lost in the NRM primaries in Bugabula North to the presidential advisor Moses Kizige.
Mutesi, a lawyer with the Ministry of Justice, said Kadaga had worked for three terms and needed to make room for the younger generation.
Also nominated was FDC’s  Proscovia Naikoba Kanakutanda and the Vice-President of the People’s  Development Party (PDP), Miriam Namwase. Naikoba, who lost to Kadaga in 2006, says she is assured of victory because Budiope county, which used to be Kadaga’s “vote bankâ€, had been carved out of Kamuli.
Kadaga launched her manifesto at Century Hotel in Kamuli Town at a luncheon, where singers Doreen Mutiibwa, Stecia Mayanja and Mesach Semakula entertained voters.
