A resident in Amuria town,Amuria district on Thursday asked independent presidential candidate Samuel Lubega to explain how he would unite the country when he was a victim of division.
“You broke away from Democratic Party (DP), and you became opposition of the opposition. How are you going to unite Uganda,†Moses Ogwang asked.
Ogwang argued that if Lubega had failed to reconcile with his party President, Norbert Mao, how is he going to reconcile the whole country with different parties.
“As original DP, we don’t want leaders who are made in statehouse. Such leaders cannot build institutions, but destroy them,†Lubega said.
“How do you expect Mao, whose wife, Naome, is an aide to first lady Janet Museveni, to be different from Museveni. Naome brings milk from State House and Mao drinks,†he said.
Lubega said Yoweri Museveni could never be mentor or creator of their institution (DP).
Lubega decried the high level of poverty in Teso ,saying it had been partly due to the government’s negligence to develop the region.
He said the doors of poverty were opened when cattle from Teso were raided.
Lubega added that this had made the people of Teso live like second- rate citizens in the country.
He promised to revitalise the economy by re-opening ginneries and constructing new schools.
Lubega later said,“So you can decide, either to stay the course of ruling you for anther 25 years while you are living in abject poverty, or vote me so that I help you regain your glory,†Lubega added.
