RESIDENTS of Bushenyi district have asked aspiring candidates to translate their manifestos into the local languages so that the ordinary people can read and understand their contents.

They also want the candidates to distribute as many copies of their manifestos as possible.

The residents complained of leaders who only present their manifestos in English, which most ordinary voters do not understand.

“The only time we see manifestos is during launches, where leaders provide an outline of their contents. We want to analyse them in our ample time,” a resident said.

The event involved a motorcycle riding and jogging competition that saw many aspiring candidates in the race.

Nasser Bassajja, who is contesting for the Bushenyi municipality seat, thanked Citizen Manifesto, a civil society organisation, for presenting citizens with an opportunity to air out their views to leaders before they assume office.
