UGANDA has entered 13 teams at the East African University Games starting in Nairobi today.

UGANDA has entered 13 teams at the East African University Games starting in Nairobi today.

An official of the organising committee Peninah Wahome said yesterday that 3,500 participants are expected in the 7th edition of the annual show.

The participants will be battling for honours in 16 disciplines including soccer, rugby, netball, basketball, volleyball and athletics.

Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Makerere University Business School led the advance group of Ugandan teams.

Zanzibar College of Education team also arrived at the competition venue.

Kenya’s sports minister Paul Otuoma and UN advisor on sports and peace, Wilfred Lemke will preside over the opening ceremony due today.

Organisers expect 37 teams to contest for awards.
