Kibaale lags behind all districts in western Uganda

This sounds great in the ears of the voters in eastern Uganda. Now he has started campaigning in western Uganda. I wish to ask the President to do the same for the area. This is because of all the districts that make up western Uganda, the Bunyoro region remains the least developed in terms of social and economic amenities.

For example, Kibaale District of all the districts in Uganda, has had no land titles since 1900! The history of the 'lost counties' of Buyaga and Bugangaizi since 1900 is very clear. For the past 110 years the local people remain squatters on the land of their ancestors.

Land wrangles that involve the death of people and destruction of property still prevail in Kibaale and Hoima. There is not a single tarmacked road in Kibaale which has only one hospital at Kagadi serving all the five constituencies with over 500,000 people. Forests are being depleted day and night.

I would love to hear Museveni promising the people of Bunyoro that in the next five years, he will tarmac the Kagadi-Kibaale and Kakumiro–Mubende road. The construction of the Kigumba-Hoima-Kagadi-Kyenjojo Road that had been earmarked to be upgraded and tarmacked by December 2010 should also be remembered.

The President should talk about the land question in Kibaale and not to forget the oil share of Bunyoro. I am very optimistic that when he addresses these three core issues— roads, oil and health, many of the people who had crossed to the opposition a few months ago, will come back and vote for the NRM as has been the case in the past presidential elections.
