ABOUT 400 students at Makerere University Faculty of Arts will miss the January 17 graduation ceremony because of missing and incomplete results.
Fortunate Ahimbisibwe reports that more students from other faculties face the same fate.
Only 636 students from the Arts Faculty will graduate out of about 1,200 who completed last year.
Academic Registrar Sebastian Ngobi yesterday said, “It is true not all the students must graduate, but this is because of a number of reasons of which incomplete results is one of them. But the respective faculties are trying their best to prepare the lists although not all of them have completed the exercise.”
He, however, said other students would miss graduation for failure to fulfil other requirements.
“Some of the students could have failed a certain course unit and may therefore not graduate,” he said.
A list displayed on the notice board said 62 students from the Mass Communication department will graduate out of 143, Tourism 11, Development Studies 173 out of over 200, BA Arts178 out of over 250. He said 3,000 students were expected to graduate in the first round. Other students will graduate either in March or April.
