THE Director of Information at the Movement Secretariat, Ofwono Opondo, has said the Movement Secretariat will not support defence minister Amama Mbabazi in his re-election bid for Kinkizi West constituency.

THE Director of Information at the Movement Secretariat, Ofwono Opondo, has said the Movement Secretariat will not support defence minister Amama Mbabazi in his re-election bid for Kinkizi West constituency.
Ofwono said there has never been any meeting at the Secretariat where a “decision was taken to favour or decampaign any candidate either in Kinkizi West or any other constituency.â€
He was reacting to allegation by Mbabazi’s main challenger, James Musinguzi, who wrote to the Electoral Commission asking for the postponement of nomination due to “unfavourable situation on the ground.â€
Musinguzi quoted Ofwono in the letter reference EC/15 January 7, as having said the Movement would back Mbabazi.
But Ofwono said Musinguzi was quoting media reports which were not official. Ofwono appears in a Mbarara High Court today to present Movement position in the Mbabazi-Musinguzi case.
