By Josephine Maseruka Buganda kingdom leadership has mourned the death of Reverend Canon Polycarp Kibuuka Kakooza (inset), who passed away on Sunday night. He is remembered for composing the Buganda anthem, Ekitiibwa kya Buganda, in 1939. Uganda has been robbed of the highly talented Kakooza who was an administrator, a clergyman, an educationist, a sportsman, a musician, an author and an ardent monarchist. Prince Kassim Nakibinge yesterday described him as “Uganda’s library, because he could be consulted on many different issues. He could make things move.†Kakooza who was to mark his 91st birthday on April 12, died at Namirembe Hospital in Roy Billington ward. Burial will take place tomorrow at 2:00pm at Kabowa St Stephen Church, where he will be laid next to his wife, Ruth Nanteza, who died three years ago. The funeral will be preceded by a service at St. Paul’s cathedral Namirembe. According to his fourth child Victoria Kakooza, a human resource manager at the National Insurance Corporation Ltd, Kakooza died of prostrate cancer which he had battled for some years. She said her father was admitted on Thursday after getting treatment from Kadic Clinic. Ends
