By Albert Ayiga Ondoga WORKS, housing and communications minister, Eng. John Nasasira has said if China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the contractors upgrading the Nebbi-Pakwach road do not speed up the work, the Government would cancel the contract. Nasasira was talking to The New Vision on the progress of the road construction at his Kampala office, recently. “If these people don’t move very fast with the construction work, we shall have no option but to cancel the contract,†Nasasira said after being asked why the CRBC workers are still on site when little or no work had been done. He said his ministry was pressurising the contractors on a daily basis, which had made them (contractors) increase the machinery on site and reshuffle the management. “You also know very well that cancelling a contract has some repercussions and so we must be careful,†he said. A recent survey carried out by The New Vision showed that no layer of tarmac had been put on the road, while the over 42km stretch of Arua-Nebbi road had already been tarmacked by SBI contractors. The Road will soon be handed over to the Ministry of Works. Ends
