THE Inspector General of Government (IGG), Jotham Tumwesigye, has intervened in the wrangle concerning the award of tenders in Njeru town council in Mukono district.
In a letter dated January 14, the IGG directed the town leaders to halt the tendering process to allow his office carry out proper investigations.
The speaker, Dick Muyingo, read the letter to the councillors during an extra ordinary council meeting recently.
Tumwesigye said he had received complaints that the tendering process was mishandled to favour some firms purportedly owned by the town council officials.
The tender board recently awarded the tender to manage the Taxi Park to Njeru Taxi Operators and Drivers’ Association. Supply of six skips and collection of garbage was awarded to Hits and House Enterprises.
Njeru councillors in December last year signed a petition seeking to pass a vote of no confidence against the LC3 chairman, Paul Musoke. They alleged that he had allocated himself a tender. Ends
