By Vision Reporter AFRICA’S largest Robusta coffee farm, Kaweri Coffee plantation in Mubende district, will launch its much awaited outgrowers scheme in June this year. “The team to design the programme arrived in the country last week to meet and hold discussions with government, district and local leaders in Mubende district,†Greg Stough, the plantation director, said last week during a meeting with the Mubende district officials headed by their chairman, Major Joseph Kakooza. Stough and the German Ambassador, Klaus Holderbaum, were in the district to pay a courtesy call on the district executive, according to a press statement sent to The New Vision over the weekend. “We want this scheme to be successful and beneficial to all coffee growing communities in the whole of Mubende district,†Stough said. Kakooza said Mubende people had embraced the over $10m (about sh18b) project since it was launched over one year ago by President Yoweri Museveni. “We have no problem with the plantation. The few problems that emerged were sorted out. We are pleased and proud of Kaweri Coffee plantation. It has already improved the economic activity of Mubende,†Kakooza said.
