FUEL pump prices shot up for the second time in three weeks.

Petrol and diesel prices went up by sh50 per litre while kerosene (paraffin) was increased by sh40.

A litre of petrol, which was on January 6 raised from sh1,530 to sh1,580, yesterday shot up to sh1,630 per litre. Diesel, whose price was early this month, pushed up from sh1,280 per litre to sh1, 330, has now gone up to sh1,380.

Kerosene which had been at sh1,190 per litre, now costs sh1,230.

By yesterday, Shell outlets at Bugolobi, Jinja Road and Kabalagala had adjusted their pump prices. A pump attendant at Shell Bugolobi said they got instructions from Shell Head office on Friday to adjust pump prices, effective Sunday morning.

Total on Old Port Bell Road opposite British American Tobacco (BAT) Head offices had also changed to the new prices.

Workers at the newly-constructed Kobil filling station on Bombo Road, said they would change pump prices today.

Hussein Ahmed of the Gapco outlet on Ben Kiwanuka Street near Shoprite, said they would adjust the pump prices today.

“We have already received similar instructions. You will see by tomorrow, pump prices at all the outlets would have changed,”he said.

Caltex, Kobil and Jovenna outlets in Kampala had by yesterday afternoon not changed their prices.
