Oryem appoints Kaawaase, Tumwine

MBARARA mayor Wilson Tumwine and former FUFA presidential aspirant Haji Abasi Kaawaase have been named new chairmen for National Council of Sports and Nakivubo management committees respectively.

MBARARA mayor Wilson Tumwine and former FUFA presidential aspirant Haji Abasi Kaawaase have been named new chairmen for National Council of Sports and Nakivubo management committees respectively.
Tumwine replaces the late Geoffrey Kizito while Kaawaase replaces George Kakaire.
A release from the education and sports ministry said that the appointment “serves as a very significant step in the efforts to re-direct the course of sports in the country.”
The release, signed by state minister Henry Oryem adds: “I urge them to live to that expectation. The selection has been carefully done to bring an array of badly needed expertise into the management of sports in the country.”
Tumwine, a former FUFA vice president will be assisted by Jasper Muwonge Aligawesa, a former FUBA executive member. Zubairi Galiwango, FUFA assistant secretary, will be Kaawaase’s assistant. Abbey Lutaya remains the general secretary of NCS.
The NCS committee has new names in Lt. Col. Diba Ssentongo (sports officer -UPDF), Ben Omoding (Coaches Association boss), Raphael Ouma (former NFLC chairman), Kennedy Mutenyo (Coca-Cola), Sheila Agonzibwa (handball) and Peninah Kabenge (sports tutor-MUK) among others.
