Silver Springs wins land wrangle
THE Chief Registrar of Titles has confirmed that Silver Springs Hotel (1969) Limited is the rightful owner of Plots 80-82 and M191, situated at Bugolobi, in the eastern suburbs of Kampala.

THE Chief Registrar of Titles has confirmed that Silver Springs Hotel (1969) Limited is the rightful owner of Plots 80-82 and M191, situated at Bugolobi, in the eastern suburbs of Kampala.
This is contained in a consent order that was signed before the Principal Judge, Jeremiah Herbert Ntabgoba. Slum dwellers in the area had been contesting Silver Springs claim.
The Registrar of Titles also acknowledged that the land, which is enclosed in LRV 804 Folio 12, was originally granted to Silver Springs Hotel (1969) in 1972.
It was also agreed that the land was restored to Silver Springs Hotel by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development under a certificate of repossession issued on May 24, 1999.
It was also agreed that Kampala District Land board by its decision of April 17, 2001, extended Silver Springs Hotel’s lease for a further period of five years effective from May 24, 2001, to enable it carry on and complete its development project that was planned for the site after which the lease would be extended to full term.
The Chief Registrar of Titles also agreed to issue to Silver Springs Hotel (1969) a certificate of title reflecting the terms and conditions contained in the original grant together with the fact of repossession, indicating the original terms as to the length of the full lease.
The consent order ends the claims that had been advanced by several individuals, who had alleged that they had been allocated the land.
