Makerere University library should professionalise!

SIR— It is with a lot of disappointment that I write this letter about Makerere University library.

SIR— It is with a lot of disappointment that I write this letter about Makerere University library.

On several occasions, I have made my way to the IDA section of the library. The attendants there are not pleasant at all. Make a mistake once and you will suffer forever.

The first time I attempted to borrow a book, I wrote the ISBN of the book instead of its catalogue number. This female attendant, instead of helping me, thought of me as a confused woman and refused to serve me. Even when I asked her for a book that was around, she said it had been taken. I was clever enough to ask for it from a male attendant who brought me the book. What a shame!

Imagine waiting to be served and this woman tells you, “You are just wasting your time. I am not going to serve you.”

How rude!

If the attendant does not love her job, she can as well give it up for the unemployed out there. It is that simple.

It is not gossip that makes one a good worker.

Can you imagine having to listen to stories about the attendants wives, husbands and relationships when you desperately need a book?

This should be kept for their leisure time.
