THE European Development Fund (EDF) has given sh3.5b to seven districts for constructing schools, health centres and wells under the Micro Project Programme (MPP).
The funds will be complemented by funding from the beneficiary districts.
Pallisa district will receive the biggest share of sh675m while Apac will get sh575m.
Other beneficiaries include Busia (sh475m), Adjumani (sh375m), Nebbi (sh375m) Moyo(sh425m) and Bugiri (sh475m).
Pallisa chairman Bob Wasugirya said his district took the largest share because of good implementation of earlier projects funded by the EDF/MPP.
“We are ranking top because we complied with the conditions set by the project funders,” he said.
Wasugirya said the EDF/MPP had found it easy to deal with the district.
The conditions set by EDF included complete and timely preparation of progress reports.
Others are timely submission of annual work plans and strict adherence to the local government financial regulations. Ends
