THREE Board directors of the MTN Group, the major shareholder of MTN Uganda, arrive in Uganda this morning.
Phuthuma Nhleko, the group chief executive for MTN Group; Lazarus Zim, the managing director of MTN International and Cyril Ramaphosa, a leading black businessman, are on a two-leg working visit to the telecoms company’s operations in east and west Africa.
According to a press release, ‘MTN Uganda holds a unique position in Uganda and within the MTN family both as the Second National Operator, and also because it is a privatisation and liberalisation success story. A fact that makes Uganda and MTN Uganda very special to MTN International.’
Ramaphosa is a director of South African Breweries ands chairman of MTN Group Limited. Zim is leading MTN’s expansion strategy in pursuit of new telecom licenses across Africa.
All three men have had a wide and intensive experience, both in South Africa and across the continent, in the world of business.
