TELECOMMUNICATION company Mango re-established sports sponsorship pedigree yesterday by injecting sh22m in Kobs RC.
And Mango’s timely partnership as major co-sponsors for the Mango Kobs team fuels excitement in today’s league crunch fixture against rivals MTN-sponsored Heathens.
Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony at Kampala rugby club yesterday, utl telecel accounts official Peter Kasedde said that the sh22m package will cater for the club’s treasury, purchase a professional jersey and training kits.
“It’s an unspecified life going sponsorship package,†he said. In a press release, company spokesman Aldrine Nsubuga associated rugby’s successful year at national level, professionalism in management and organisation as mesmerising ground for the company’s sponsorship stretch for a ‘mango team’.
However traditional sponsors Underwritters will stay put as co-sponsors for the rugby club. Kobs boss Philip Karugaba thanked Mango for the offer and acknowledged they would live up to the expectations this season.
“We are simply lost of words. We are truly delighted to join with mango and promise to make this a remarkable season. We thank the players as well for turning this club what it is today,†he said.
Nsubuga re-affirmed the company’s desire to encourage sports development, saying that this was one other way they could assert new life, excitement and competition in this year’s rugby league.
