PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has advised the youth in Uganda, especially those in the higher institutions of learning, to pursue courses that are marketable in the labour force both locally and internationally.
President was yesterday addressing over 500 students from various tertiary institutions in the country. The students had completed a three-week introductory cadre course at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi, Kiboga district.
He told the youth not to despise some jobs, saying institutions like the Police and the Army offer better employment opportunities for the youth today.
He said the Movement Government was committed to transforming the country from a pre-industrial society to an industrial-based economy by attracting more investors.
Museveni said the presence of more factories and other social services will reduce unemployment, add value to products, create market for local products and widen the tax-base.
Responding to questions raised by the youth on security in northern Uganda, Museveni assured the youth and the nation that total peace will soon be restored in the Acholi-Lango region. Ends
