A fight almost broke out between a traffic cop and another Police officer when the latter’s car was confiscated for violating traffic regulation.
The drama took place last Friday afternoon at the junction of William Street and Kyaggwe Road near Hotel Equatoria in Kampala.
The 30-minute road show started when the dark-blue Corona Select saloon car in which the Police officer was travelling violated a one-way rule on William Street.
The car was moving from the direction of Bat Valley Primary School towards Hotel Equatoria. As soon as the vehicle slowed down to cross Kyaggwe Road at 12:10pm, the fat dark-skinned traffic Policeman directing traffic at the X-junction stopped it. He then dashed and grabbed the keys from the driver.
This forced the Police officer, seated on the passenger seat, to jump out in an attempt to get the keys back. But his pleas and quarrels with the traffic policeman fell on deaf ears.
After about 15 minutes of argument, the dejected Police officer picked his file from the car and walked away towards Central Police station (CPS).
One other gentleman and the driver remained seated inside the car at the scene. In the end, at 12:40 pm after almost 30 minutes of dead-lock, the traffic man, who kept talking on his walkie-talkie, jumped inside the car, gave the key to the driver and ordered him to drive towards Kampala Road.
