I was truly touched by Mengo Hospital

SIR — Sometime ago, I had a toothache and was advised to go to Mengo hospital. I was deeply impressed by the hospitality with which the staff in the dental department treated their patients. First, someone came and met us, the waiting patients seated at the benches. He introduced himself and greeted us, expressing sympathy for our ailments. Then he invited us to pray. I was intrigued to hear what kind of prayer he proposed to say, for it was evident that we were from different denominations and religions.

In a very simple and touching fashion, he prayed for the patients in their pain as well as for the medical team about to treat us.
Then I noticed that each of the medical team that came in said a word of greeting and a smile as they passed on into the clinic to start their day’s duties. The medical team was 15 minutes late opening, which I thought was quite tolerable compared to the waiting I have had to undergo in other public services.
But what pleasantly surprised me was that for this 15 minutes one of the team came and apologised to us explaining the reason of the delay.
And finally I noticed that when the four dental surgeons started their work they kept fully at it with total attention to their patients.
I shared this experience with friends, who agreed with me that it is something commendable.
I would now like to share it with your readers and to thank Mengo Hospital for their wonderful service.
I find it as important as the actual medical treatment.
