Police lacks fire trucks LUWEERO — The Police last acquired a fire-fighting vehicle 15 years ago, the force operations commander, Francis Rwego, has said. He said on Saturday that the last time police bought a fire vehicle was in 1988. He told a community workshop that there were only 10 old fire tenders and water tankers to fight fires in the whole country.

Man to hang for murder RAKAI — Sseggingo Misaaki, of Kabalungi in Butiti sub- county, has been sent to the gallows for killing his neighbour’s son. Elidad Mwangusya sentenced Misaaki after prosecution proved he burnt 10- year-old Jimmy Kayabula, son of Steven Lukyamuzi to death. He poured petrol on the boy and set him ablaze on August 18, 2000.
Nakawa boss accounts KAMPALA — Nakawa division has spent over sh230m on the Local Government Development Programmes in this financial year. The LC3 chairman, Protazio Kintu, told a recent council meeting that sh35m was spent on street lighting in Bugolobi, sh23m on drainage improvement in Mbuya parish and sh19m on roads in Bukoto.
