THE Kampala district council has approved the tarmacking of 33 roads in Naguru, a city suburb.
The district works, physical planning and inspection committee recommended that the roads be repaired as they are in terrible condition.
The other reason is that Naguru is an upcoming suburb which is densely populated, according to the committee report to the council.
The repairs were approved and the finance, economic affairs committee was requested to solicit funding for the project.
The report also revealed that City Engineer Abraham Byandala had informed the works committee that he had prepared bid documents amounting to sh149b. The figure includes VAT and contingency. Byandala was also quoted as having said the National Social Security Fund would fund the project.
The roads to be worked on include Balikuddembe, Bukoto Crescent, Bukoto Rise, Commercial Road, Hill Rise, Katale Rise, Katalima Bend, Katalima Close, Katalima Crescent, Katalima Road, Kimera-Semawata and Lower Naguru East.
