GOLF champion Deo Akope will, this weekend seek to add the Kim’s Open title to his impressive collection.
The scratch player tops the list of a talented entry at the par-71 Entebbe club course.
This is the second competitive event on the new 18-hole course after the club’s Centenary Celebrations Open held last month.
“I cannot wait for the event to start, I want to make an impact,” the 25-year old player said.
Akope completed a hat trick of Uganda Open wins last year.
He matched the successes of former champion Stephen Birungi. Legendary Sadi Onito boasts three hat tricks.
Akope who learnt golf in Entebbe, will come up against clubmates-Godfrey Mande (h/c 2), Patrick Mugisha (h/c 4).
The club’s lady players, including Rhoda Tumusiime, Podi Kassami have also entered the fray.
Club captain Mukiibi Muka expects over 70 players to be in action.
Foreign guests including Kevin Smith, the captain of Lilongwe Club in Malawi will also compete.
Kampala players such as John Waigo, Sam Zaramba, Regina Ddamulira, national lady champion Margaret Turyamubugana are also set for the event.
Kim’s Optical Centre, Songdoh Medical Uganda limited, which are run by South Koreans, are sponsoring the event.
Players are drawn in groups of four and will tee off at intervals of ten minutes.
