The Police yesterday published a photograph of Medi Bujini, who they say is a prime suspect in the ‘sniper’ mode used in the murder of two military Police officers at Luzira Prison.

Geoffrey Kamali and Steven Candia write that Dennis Dramani and Fred Opanga were shot at close range and their guns taken by the assailants.

Various security organisations, alarmed by the shootings, have joined the hunt for the killers.

Police spokesman Asuman Mugenyi told reporters on Tuesday that the two were gunned down shortly after two of their colleagues, Pte Steven Kwegira and Pte John Tabu who had been on guard, had just left for supper. Bujini has been a long wanted fugitive, linked to the attack on two Police installations in Luweero district last year, in which a Policeman was killed, one gun taken and an omnibus burnt to ash.

He was arrested by Operation Wembley but later taken by ISO. Bujini reportedly escaped from a ‘safe house’ where he was being held.
