THE Law Council Disciplinary Committee on Friday rejected an application by former Attorney General, Joseph Ekemu to resume legal practice.
The council, chaired by Elijah Wante advised Ekemu to file a fresh application for his re-instatement.
Ekemu, also former Justice Minister, was struck off practicing lawyers after he was committed to Luzira prison, where he served a sentence for theft of money belonging to an Asian, Suresh Ghelan.
He had pleaded to the council to be allowed to practice law again saying he had suffered a lot.
“I haven’t been able to sustain myself as there have been no means,” he said.
The committee said there were five months left for him to end two mandatory years after which an application could be filed.Ends
