IT is good to give anything a try but not at the risk of death.
A 75-year-old man, who claimed he could take a litre of the local potent gin (waragi) collapsed dead after drinking only half of it. Mzee Paulo Muwesi had bet to gulp the waragi after a heated argument at a pub in Kasuku village, Nkondo sub-county in Kamuli district.
The district Police commander, Fred Ssekiwere, confirmed the death, but was non committal on its cause, saying inquires were underway.
The residents who had thronged the pub said Muwesi had drunk half a litre of waragi when he excused himself to go out for a short call.
As he walked he collapsed and died, they said.Ends
