THE Kamwenge resident district commissioner, Serwano Kabogorwa, recently said parents who had deliberately refused to take their children to school when there is free primary education would be prosecuted.
“The rate of illiteracy in the district is alarming, yet some parents are bent on keeping it that way. Only 70% of the school-going children access formal education,” he said.


Movt advises on MPs

MOVEMENT leaders in Kyenjojo have recommended that Members of Parliament be elected on district basis to reduce their number.
This was during a meeting at Kasina Hall recently. They said each district should be represented by a male and female MP.
They recommended the UPDF to retain the current ten seats and the interest groups to retain the four regional seats.


Seminary takes best

SEVENTEEN of the best 2002 A’ Level students from St. Paul’s Seminary in Kabale are set to join Katigondo National Seminary in Masaka district.
The students will study philosophy and theology, the Rector said recently.Ends
