Why estimate meter readings?

SIR— I am a resident of Kiwatule, Ntinda, who is disgusted with the services of UEDCL Banda branch. For several months, UEDCL has sent me blank invoices. All of a sudden, they sent me an invoice of sh200,000 which miraculously shot to sh480,000 the next month. Having paid part of the sh200,000 after listening to their endless stories, the meter supervisor tells me that the sh480,000 invoice was an estimate. When I took my meter reading, I was actually meant to pay about sh55,000, not sh480,000; but they had the audacity to warn me that they would disconnect my power in 48 hours.
I would want to assure the manager in Banda that I am tired of meter readers who do not read the true figure, their supervisors and the endless promises by the meter supervisor that the invoice will be okay next month. Nobody in Kiwatule owns a maize meal to have a bill of sh480,000 in
a two-bedroom house where gas is used most of the time.
