A LIRA-based motor spare parts dealer, Umar Wamaniala, was on Wednesday afternoon killed when his car was ambushed by suspected Karimojong warriors at the Irir in Moroto.

Moses Simiyu, driver of the car Reg. No. UAA 737J was shot on the left shoulder but bravely drove to a nearby UPDF detachment at Olilim.

Simiyu told The New Vision from his hospital bed at Soroti Hospital that Wamaniala was killed on the spot.

He said when they reached the scene at about 3:00pm, two armed men dressed in army uniform with sheets of cloths wrapped around their waists, emerged from the bush and signalled them to stop.

“Before I could stop, I heard from the rear a bullet sound and it is this bullet which killed Wamaniala,” Simiyu said.

He said the men put them at gunpoint before grabbing their property of unknown value. They smashed the front screen of the car as they vanished into the bush.
