KAWEMPE — The rate of crime in the division has reduced from 15 cases reported a day to less than three since the year began. The deputy CID officer at Kawempe Police, Patrick Basuta, recently said last year the division had registered thousands of criminal cases.

Lugazi to get sh440m
LUGAZI — The town council expects to raise sh439m in local revenue, the finance committee chairperman, Okello Opwonya, has said. He was speaking at a council meeting held at the Council Chambers on Tuesday. The town clerk, Daniel Kaweesi and the Mayor, Saidi Mubarak attended.

Men advised on HIV/AIDS
MPIGI — Men in the district have been warned against inheriting women to avoid HIV/AIDS. The warning was recently made by Mrs. Grace Kizito, the coordinator of Gomba Aids Support and Counselling Organisation, while receiving a group of 76 HIV/AIDS patients in the area. The group is seeking medical and financial assistance from NGOs dealing with HIV/AIDS in Gomba county.


Money fails rape victim
MPIGI — Relatives of a woman who was reportedly raped by her son have failed to raise money to take her for medical examination. Officials at Kanoni Police station recently invited Matilda Nambooze’s relatives to take her for medical examination at Gombe Hospital. The Police said they have no transport to take Nambooze, who accuses her son Gerald Musisi, 30, of raping her on April 6, for medical examination.Ends
