THE state has dropped terrorism charges against the Nakawa LC3 Councillor who was recently cautioned on another charge of desertion.
The General Court Martial sitting at Makindye in Kampala, on Wednesday freed Cpl Ibrahim Lwere, 49, shortly after the prosecutor, Capt. Samson Mwase said the state was no longer interested in the case.
Lwere was arrested on August 5, 2002, by the then Operation Wembley which was commanded by Col Elly Kayanja.
Lwere said shortly after being released that malicious people at his village in Kyanja, had levelled allegations that he hid one Frank, a son of Mukasa in his house.
“Some people in my village wanted to tarnish my political image, that is why they told Wembley I was hiding people, but I thank God the truth is now uncovered. I am now a free man, ”he said. Ends
