THE Burahya Member of Parliament, Captain Steven Basaliza, and Kabarole district chairman Augustine Kayonga have agreed to bury the hatchet and work together.

The reconciliation took place after a closed meeting mediated by the district resident commissioner, Canon Ben Rullonga, and Bunyangabu MP Adolf Mwesige.

The meeting, which sat in Mucwa chambers, was also attended by selected district councillors.

“We asked them not to go to the press again. Not even to talk about this meeting,” a councillor said on Saturday.

The two politicians have been at each other’s neck in the past, with Basaliza accusing Kayonga of heading a corrupt administration and Kayonga accusing Basaliza of lack of courtesy and appreciation for the support he (Basaliza) got during the parliamentary elections.
