NATIONAL technical director Guenter Zittel will not return from Germany when his three-year contract expires in March because of the little support he has got from Uganda.

Zittel said he has failed to get all the support he needs from NCS to implement his development programmes, while soccer governing body FUFA has ignored his services altogether.

“I will not renew my contract because the money is not there to support my programmes. I have often met NCS officials but the financial outcomes have not been supportive since,” Zittel said.
“So when my contract expires in March I will go home.”

The 58-year-old German, holder of one of the highest coaching badges from the DFB, came under a cultural exchange programme, courtesy of the German technical co-operation (GTZ).

Asked why he was not assisting Cranes, he lashed back: “ I have been left out in all decisions why should I come in now?”

Among the original plans of the CAF-UEFA Meridian projects, was for Zittel to build Uganda’s coaching capacity. Zittel is critical of the poor management of Ugandan soccer by Denis Obua’s FUFA.
