The Vice President Wandira Kazibwe has said the current tax policies favour companies with large capital bases and leave out small businesses, the majority of whom are run by women.
She said that there was need to study the challenges faced by women in all sectors so as to make appropriate recommendations for them to participate in business.
“The challenges and critical needs to women entreprenuers that still bedevil women remain many and varied. They include the inadequate tax policies, legal and regulatory frame-work while the import duty on raw materials is unreasonably high,” he said.
She was on Wednesday represented by energy and mineral development minister, Syda Bumba, at a dinner hosted by the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) in honour of members of the joint steering committee for the American and African Business Women”s Alliance (AABWA) at Grand Imperial hotel.
