Makindye LCs demolish ‘born again’ church

Authorities in Makindye Division have demolished a church belonging to born-again Christians, saying it was built illegally

Authorities in Makindye Division have demolished a church belonging to born-again Christians, saying it was built illegally, reports Herbert Ssempogo.

Deogratius Kijjambu, the chairman, said recently that the owners of the church, located in Nkere Zone, did not seek permission from the authorities before building it.

“Our division planners did not get any documents from these people. They just erected their structure and started conducting their prayers,” he said

He said Nkere Zone residents were not comfortable with the church because the worshippers were making a lot of noise.

“These are the principle points for the survival of any Church. It becomes very hard for it to run if these points are not satisfied,” he said.

Kijjambu said the demolished building was temporary but added that the owners must have had a plan of constructing a permanent structure. He said such poorly erected buildings are a “time-bomb” because they can collapse and injure the occupants.

A born-again Christians’ church in Kipamba Zone in Makindye recently collapsed killing two people and injuring five others.
