Tomorrow is International Mother’s Day. A day when we show our mothers that we love and appreciate them and what they really mean to us.

Make your mother feel special by buying her a card or better still make one for her. You can also surprise her with a gift however small. Help her with the housework so that she can rest or make her a
meal or a nice cup of tea.

The Children’s Vision is also celebrating Mothers’ Day. Since Saturday March 29, 2003, we have been asking children aged between five and 13 to participate in the Mothers’ Day Competition that involved writing an essay, a poem or drawing a picture.

We received 120 good entries but there have to be winners!
Michael Byaruhanga of Greenhill Academy wrote the best poem, Ritah Nansubuga of Kampala Parents’ School wrote the best essay, while Hannah Babirye of Nakasero Primary drew the winning picture.

Byaruhanga, Nansubuga and Babirye each get a prize and will be hosted to a dinner with their mothers by The New Vision. The three of you are requested to come to The New Vision head office on 3rd Street, Industrial Area with your mothers on Sunday May 11, 2003, at 6.30pm. From here you will be taken to the venue for the dinner.

Those who took second place were Ronah Musiima of Namagunga Boarding Primary School, Saimah Nansubuga care of Mrs. Zainab Mukasa and Shamusi Nakibuka of Buyala Primary School. You too win a token prize which you are asked to pick up from The New Vision offices tomorrow from 12.00pm to 3:00pm.

We have run the winning entries in today’s editon and some other well written pieces that were sent in for you to read.

Thank you all for participating and congratulations to all those who won.

We look forward to reading about how you celebrated Mothers’ Day.
