THE Government will compensate Mzee Nyero Santo Akol for the death of his wife.

Esther Angeyo, a resident of Pabbo Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) camp, was shot and killed by the UPDF recently, while catching white ants outside the camp.

This was stated by Lt. Gen. Salim Saleh, while addressing a peace meeting at Awer IDP camp in Lamogi sub-county, in Gulu district.

Saleh said the four people whose huts were burnt by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels on the night of April 29 would also be compensated.

The rebels also abducted 12 people in the night raid, according to the LC3 chairman Lamogi sub-county, Walter Obwoya.

Saleh said there would be compensation for the late Simon Kilama, who was killed by a UPDF bomb in Awer IDP camp.

“I am going to compensate those people whose huts were burnt. Hon. Santa Okot, Pader Woman Member of Parliament, will bear compensation for the dead,” he said.
