THE army on Friday killed at least 13 Lord’s Resistence Army (LRA) rebels in Arebe hills and rescued more 16 captives...
They also recovered a number of weapons in two separate battles.
The army Spokesman based at the northern fronts, Lt. Paddy Ankunda said a serious battle was fought between the UPDF 13th Battalion in Arebe, Kilak county west of Gulu town in pursuit operations.
He said this brought to 27, the number of Kony’s fighters killed in Gulu, Kitgum and Pader since May this year.
During the clashes, Lt. Ankunda said, three UPDF soldiers were killed and five others injured.
On Thursday, the UPDF 41st battalion battled LRA rebels commanded by ‘Col.’ Ocan-Bunia whom the army reportedly killed with other unnamed five LRA commanders.
Ankunda said seven other rebels were killed by the 23rd Battalion in another battle in an undisclosed location in Kitgum on the same day.
He said the army recovered at least 10 machine guns.Ends
