CHARLIE Lubega proved impossible to stop as he cruised to a record equalling fourth back-to-back NRC victories in a season in the UMOSPOC Challenge rally yesterday.
Lubega (Mitsubishi Evo4) clocked one hour 42.51 minutes, over five minutes quicker than Moses Lumala (Toyota Celica ST185) whose 1999 record was matched.
Lubega, who started the second leg in Mukono level with Lumala having tied at the super special stage at Garuga on Saturday, took six of the day’s eight sections on a challenging route that saw off eight of the 14 starters drop out.
TOTAL sponsored Lubega, who extended his National Rally Championship lead to 320 points — 20 ahead of Lumala — intends to win the remaining four events.
“The points system leaves us with no option but to push and try to win all events,” said Lubega, who forfeits 20 percent of his points for using an unrestricted turbo charger.
Lumala was still optimistic.
“Charlie will be the luckiest man in the world if he wins all events,” said the Caltex sponsored Lumala.
Kuku Ranjit claimed third position after rookie Riyaz Kurji (Mitsubishi Evo7), who was headed for the podium position, was forced out by an electrical mishap in the penultimate section.

Results:
Charlie Lubega 1:42.51

Ranjit Kuku 2:04.54
Ismael Lule 2:17.03
F. Tezikuba 2:30.58
