TORORO — Michael Omerikol, a casual labourer at the Tororo Cement Industries, recently fell off the high towers of the new factory and died. The incident comes less than two months after a technician lost his right arm when he fell on a conveyor roller.

TORORO — The vice-president of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers, Eng. Hans Mwesigwa, has urged girls to opt for technical careers and engineering courses to enable them compete with men. Mwesigwa said last week that elsewhere in the world, women are great engineers and pilots.

SOROTI — The district has received sh249m. Chief administrative officer George Omuge said the money is meant to pay arrears for civil servants and staff of Arapai Agricultural College for the years 1997/98-2000/2001. He said the cheque was ready and payment would follow. Ends
