BUSONGORA South MP Christopher Kibanzanga participated in the attack of Kasese Town during the 2001 Presidential election campaigns, the High Court yesterday heard.
Hillary Nsambu reports that Kibanzanga is suing Movement Political Commissar Crispus Kiyonga (right), saying he defamed him when he implicated him in the attack on Kasese Town. He said this was during a news conference at the Ministry of Health headquarters.
Four defence witnesses for Kiyonga yesterday pinned Kibanzanga, saying he participated in the attack on Kasese Town.
Abdu Matovu of Kasese, a former member of President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign team, said, “I believe that Kibanzanga participated in the attack, which was made on Kasese Town on March 17, 2001 following his utterances that Museveni does not have the monopoly to violence.”
Others who testified in support of Kiyonga’s defence were Israel Masereka, Jackson Mwesigwa, an LCI chief in Kasese and Afua Asiimwe, a councillor on the district council for Kitoro.
