THE Baruuli-Banyara Cultural Trust, the umbrella organisation for the people of Buruuli in Nakasongola, has criticised President Yoweri Museveni for dropping their kinsman Wilson Mukasa-Muruuli during last week’s Cabinet reshuffle.

Johnston Butamanya, the spokesman and secretary of the Nakasongola-based trust, said recently that the commission of the former state minister for security, denied the Baruuli of their only post on the executive.

Mukasa-Muruuli, the only cabinet minister from Nakasongola, was among those dropped in the recent re-shuffle.

“We the Baruuli as a tribe got nothing out of the reshuffle. It is unfortunate that the only member of the tribe in the Cabinet, was dropped,’’ Butamanya, who is also Lira deputy resident district commissioner, told The New Vision.

Butamanya said no other Muruuli was appointed on the new Cabinet to compensate for the ‘loss’ Mukasa-Muruuli.

“If the President judged that Mukasa-Muruuli had served long enough, at least he should have appointed another member of the tribe in replacement,’’ he said.
