<b>UPC appoint</b> <br>KAMPALA — The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) president, Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, has appointed party youth chairman Kyeyune Ssenyonjo as the new UPC chief administrative secretary.

KAMPALA — The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) president, Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, has appointed party youth chairman Kyeyune Ssenyonjo as the new UPC chief administrative secretary. Ssenyonjo replaces Edward Ochwo who was earlier sacked. UPC Presidential Policy Commission vice-chairman Henry Mayega said the appointment will streamline the running of the party headquarters.

Rebels killed
PADER — The UPDF killed three rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army during a battle on Wednesday in Puranga sub-county in Aruu county. Military sources said two SMG guns and five magazines of ammunition were recovered. Security sources said the LRA rebels killed were part of the group that ambushed a fuel tanker belonging to GAPCO Petroleum.

Envoy meets
KAMPALA — President Yoweri Museveni yesterday held discussions with the Israeli Ambassador, Yaaeev Amitai, at his office on Parliamentary Buildings. Museveni and Amitai discussed issues of bilateral and international interest. Museveni also met the management team of the British American Tobacco Company, led by the company's managing director, Shame de Beer.

Muzoora call
BUSHENYI — The wife of the self-exiled Colonel, Edson Muzoora, has requested the resident district commissioner to organise a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni. Vaster Muzoora said this on Saturday at a pass out of 153 cadres at Kyabugimbi School. She said she had failed to pay school fees for her eight children. She said her Muzoora contributed to the country so his children should not drop out of school.Ends
