Project for prostitutes KAMPALA — The City Council authorities (KCC) is to set up a vocational project to redeem prostitutes in the city. Mayor Ssebaana Kizito said KCC’s concern was raised because students and young girls are involved. Ssebaana said on Saturday that KCC would set aside some money in the 2003/04 financial year for training the prostitutes.
Soldiers’ cows stolen MOROTO — A total of 12 head of cattle were stolen from the UPDF 3rd Division headquarters on Saturday. The cows belonging to UPDF officers were driven away in the night. The UPDF 3rd Division commander, Col. Andrew Gutti, said the soldiers bought the cows and were kept in the barracks. Gutti said Karimojong LDUs within the barracks could have stolen the cows.
Cop wants outside trial KAMPALA — Cate Amoit, the woman Police officer accused of selling her gun, wants to be tried outside detention. She was in charge of Kira Road Police Station armoury. Sgt. Lukwago Mugerwa, on Friday asked the Military General Court Martial sitting at Makindye Military Barracks to grant Amoit bail, saying she had overstayed on remand, yet the state is not producing witnesses.
