22 Beauties Selected For Miss Uganda Finals

Of the 22 girls chosen on Sunday for the finals of the Miss Uganda 2003 beauty pageant to take place next month, 10 are senior six-leavers, seven are at Makerere and one at Kyambogo University.

The shortest was 5’5’, and the tallest 6’. The eldest was 23, and three of them are 18.
Some want to be models, one is a professional dancer, two are Social Science students, one is studying Industrial Art and another Psychology.

They will contest for the prize of Uganda’s most beautiful girl for 2003/4.

The Kampala pre-selections for Uganda’s foremost beauty contest took place amid a lot of pomp and glitter.

Guests were treated to a red carpet welcome with dozens of photographers at hand to record their presence.

Inside the Victoria Ballroom of the Speke Resort, Munyonyo, they were treated to a welcome cocktail before a sumptuous three-course dinner.

Several local artists, including Jose Chameleon, put new meaning to the cliché ‘singing for his dinner’, entertained the guests.

At the end, the 22 girls who were lucky to have made it past the judges, were paraded on stage.

The actual contest and screening took place behind closed doors on Saturday, and on Sunday the winners were just shown. They came on in batches of six, and then together at the end for the grand finale.

They are Shamim Feddie, Immaculate Birungi, Grace Acen, Karen Hasahya, Eva Asasira, Valin Mable, Toni Kamya, Hellen Aturinda, Ammah Kirabo, Christine Apio, Sylvia Lutaaya, Asea Barbara, Linda Kagoda, Maureen Akisa, Rita Kisakye, Victoria Nangozi, Julian Migamba, Linda Nagujja, Aisha Nassanga, Anitah Tasha, Nancy Kalembe and Oren Otiti. The pageant to take place on August 9 is sponsored by MTN, the Ruparelias, Fair and Lovely and Club Pilsner.
