What is the real significance of a minister or any official being escorted?
I think it means a lot more than reaching a place and opening the door with a salute. It goes deeper, to the safety of the dignitary being escorted.
On June 3, I was surprised that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s escort sat in
a four-wheel-drive Carib behind the driver with his gun pointing outside through the window and the Kabaka’s car right behind them.
I really wonder whether that escort was of any importance to the Kabaka.
It may not be the escort’s fault, but that’s how, maybe, it is planned.
I remain wondering about the importance of the escorts. Is it for prestige or for
defence? Could escorts and those escorted, help explain?
