The Govt Hasn’t Helped Clonal Coffee Farmers Like It Has For Tea!

SIR— I am one of the few clonal coffee growers in Bugaaki sub-county, Kyenjojo district.

SIR— I am one of the few clonal coffee growers in Bugaaki sub-county, Kyenjojo district.
I have grown this coffee since 1994. Since that time, I have planted over 500 trees. However, in my view, clonal coffee is not as enduring as our traditional Robusta and Arabica types. This coffee is expensive to maintain. In case of disease, you must spray it. When this coffee was introduced in the country, we thought a kilo could be sold at a more reasonable price than traditional coffee. Now a number of people are discouraged and regret why they abandoned their traditional coffee. Moreover, even the Government has not assisted us the clonal coffee growers like it does
for those who grow tea
and vanilla.
