ARMED thugs recently killed a ranger and a labourer in an attack on a Mt. Elgon Forest Park outpost in Sironko district, reports Rashid Muzungyo.
The acting chief warden, Stonewall Kato, said the thugs also abducted another ranger, Matthew Kundu, during an attack on Nataba outpost in Buluganya sub-county, shortly after the leaders dispersed the local communities who had gathered to meet the park officials near the outpost over a boundary conflict.
Kato identified the dead as ranger Apollo Makayi and Stephen Satya, killed by a group of five armed thugs, reportedly dressed in army rain coats. He said the thugs took an AK-47 rifle and several bullets during the attack.
