THE state minister for industry, Jennifer Namuyangu, has advised parents in Pallisa district to desist from marrying off their under-age daughters to get dowry.
She said they should instead keep them in school.
Namuyangu said child marriages were still rampant in the district, yet the girls would be better economic assets to their families and the nation, if taken to school.
Namuyangu, who is also Pallisa district woman MP, was addressing residents of Pallisa town at Kalaki Primary School recently.
She asked the local leaders to help in eradicating the practice by reporting parents and other parties involved in such marriages.
